We all know that yoga is a big hit in the exercise community nowadays, but what we may not know is that it can not only just relax, but also be a great social activity and a form of mental and physical rejuvenation. Your yoga class can be a lot of things, but regardless of what it brings to your life, we have some helpful hints to discuss in brief to assist you in getting the most out of each class you attend.
Attend your yoga class with nothing in your stomach. Yoga is full bending, twisting, lengthening, stretching, and strength moves. Eating a big dinner before that kind of movement could result in you cramping up or feeling nauseous and having to leave the class or not participate as fully as you?d like.
Maintain open communications with your yoga instructor. If you have a bad back or a sprained ankle, let your instructor know before class. In order to avoid exacerbating the injury, they will suggest that you do a pose in another way, or forgo the pose if it possibly means putting you in even more pain.
Don?t attend class with your cellphone or pager. Don?t just put them on silent mode, but literally keep them in the car. This is not only a favor to your classmates and their focus, but your mind should be focused only on yoga and not concerned with whether not someone is trying to contact you about work or spilled juice on the living room carpet.
Avoid being tardy or leaving in advance. Or at least don?t be late and don?t leave in the middle of a session ? this is a hindrance to everybody?s concentration. Also, you certainly won?t get everything you can out of your hour if your hour is cut to 50 minutes before you?ve even begun.
This is the most important tip, yet we shall keep it short ? be respectful. When speaking to somebody else, turn down the volume, and speak if it is only absolutely necessary. Yoga may be an art often associated with hippies, but that doesn?t give you carte blanche to smell like one ? and on the opposite side of the coin, extremely strong perfumes are discouraged. If props are necessary in your training, be sure you store them where they need to be stored, and please, make them conveniently available to the next class.
