With the recent news that text spammers could be liable for huge fines of up to ?500k, you have to ask yourself why they aren?t doing the same to email spammers?

We all know how annoying it is to constantly be bombarded with spam, offering you nonsense special offers and trying to solicit information and cash for nothing at all. It seems that the powers that be have finally officially realised that this is a problem too, and have done something about it.

Why can?t they do the same for email?

However, the key question here seems to be that if they can deal out fines for text spam, why can?t they do the same for email spam? Surely that is just as much an infringement of your privacy as text spam?

There seems to have been a feeling that since the internet is relatively new and people are still getting to grips with it, that we should simply put up with spam. Why does this have to be the case?

The internet and email has long since stopped being a novelty. In fact, it is now the main method of both personal and business communication, which is why spam is even more of a problem.

Don?t just put up with spam

Many of us put up with spam, seemingly thinking it is an inevitable consequence of email. With these new legislative measures in place, maybe it is time we started to think differently and tried to put an end to spam once and for all. It would seem that hefty fines like this are the way to go about it.

Of course, stopping the spammers or even identifying them is a very tricky business. Spammers have a habit of staying ahead of the game and are very slippery and difficult to pin down.

However, there might be another way to stop the spam. Rather than cutting it off at the source, we can simply ensure that the spammers are wasting their time.

Turn on your spam filter utilise online anti spam services provided by companies like I Allow and soon the spammers will realise that their efforts are in vain. If we all stand together, we can finally put an end to this online irritation.
